Badminton - Doubles Tournament (All Years)

On Friday the 18th of October, there will be a badminton tournament for all years. If you are interested, please sign up at the PE office, under your correct year group as a pair. The groups will be divided into two groups, a year 7 & 8 and 9 & 10 group. Depending on the turnout the tournament may last over the next two weeks. The deadline for signing up is this Thursday the 17th of October, no submissions will be accepted after this date.

Creative Writing Session Postponement

Unfortunately, the creative writing session with Julie Sykes  due to be held after school today (Tuesday 15th October) has had to be postponed until after half term.

Sports Firm

Sports Firm will be running two days a week from this week onwards. It will be held on Mondays and Thursdays during lunch in the sports hall where we will organise games of basketball, bench ball, indoor football, badminton, netball and more. All years are welcome- we hope to see you there!

No Speakouts This Week

Unfortunately, Speakouts will not be running for the next few weeks due to MUN and Year 11 mocks. Speakouts will start up again sometime after half-term and a notice will go up telling you when, however, until then, there is a Speakouts suggestions box located in the HUB for both students and Staff to leave their suggestions for topics to discuss.

Poetry Competition - Deadline Extended to Fri 18th October

The deadline for the Poetry Competition has been extended to Friday 18th October.

The competition is on the theme of Truth.  Entries should be handed in to the Library by Friday 18th October for your chance to win an Amazon voucher!

Calling all aspiring authors and wannabe writers - or students who would like to improve their creative writing!  Julie Sykes, our Writer-in-Residence, will be running a creative writing workshop in the Library at 3pm on Tuesday 15th October.  Anyone who is interested in coming should drop into the Library to put their name down.  if you would be interested but can't make after school sessions, please let me know as we may be able to arrange future sessions for a different time.

Year 8 - Science Test - 17th October

All year 8 students will be taking an end of topic test on Thursday 17th October 2019. The test will include topics coverred in the term so far, such as Periodic Table and Electricity. Tests will take place in your regularly timetabled science classes. 

If you need any additional information, please ask your science teacher.

Mobile phone use

Mobile phones should be switched off and must remain in bags during the school day, unless you are in a designated phone zone during social time. Phones should not be carried in pockets, nor should ear buds/headphones be visible at any point other than at break. Please remember, phones should not be used to make or receive calls/messages. Any student needing to contact a parent urgently should do so by visiting the Hub and asking a member of staff to make contact on their behalf.

Just a reminder that there will be year 7 football club on today and tomorrow (Tuesday 17th) in preparation for a school match next week. Details about the game will be posted sometime this week.

There will be training next Monday AND Tuesday in preparation for a game on the following Monday. If you want to be considered for the team, please come to football club on both days. Please remember that if you do not make the team for the first game, that DOES NOT mean you won't be considered for future games so please continue coming to football club after school. This also applies to those who make the team.

Y11 Science Exams

All students will be sitting 6 GCSE Science exams in Summer 2020 :

  • Exams in Biology B1, Chemistry C1 and Physics P1 in May 2020
  • Exams in Biology B2, Chemistry C2 and Physics P2 in June 2020
